Otoplasty

Ear Reshaping

6 years and older; corrects protruding ears

Otoplasty Facial Plastic Surgery Beverly Hills 1

Overly enlarged, protruding and misshapen ears can be the subject of undue ridicule and source of great concern to some individuals, especially school-aged children. Otoplasty, which can be performed as early as the age of five, is a surgical procedure that corrects these ear abnormalities to allow your ears to be in harmony with the rest of your facial features.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE?

  • Enlarged, protruding or misshapen ears

  • Ages 5 and older

  • Realistic goals and expectations

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY?

Recovery after otoplasty is relatively straightforward. To keep younger children from manipulating the surgical site, cupped bandages are worn over the ears until sutures are removed at seven days. For older children and adults, bandages are removed after three days. Minimal swelling and bruising can be expected, and normal activity can be resumed after ten days.
