Chemical Peels

20’s and older; corrects, softens and smoothes facial wrinkles, stimulates collagen, improves skin texture

Chemical Peels Facial Plastic Surgery Beverly Hills 1

Over time, aging and environmental exposure can lead to skin wrinkles and folds, spots and sun damaged areas. Chemical peels are very effective for skin tightening, improving skin tone and texture, and in removing fine wrinkles, as well as some of the coarser wrinkles and folds of the face. Although very mild skin surface peels can be performed by an aesthetician (or even at home), the treatments offered at The Diamond Face Institute reach deeper layers of the skin and should only be performed by an experienced physician.

Chemical peels have been performed by experienced physicians for many years with consistent results. There is a wide array of topical medications which provide chemical facial peels of varying depths, from trichloroacetic acid for lighter peels to a phenol mixture for deeper peels. The key to optimal results is an experienced physician who can perform a safe and effective peel. Dr. Champagne will provide you with an individualized consultation to help decide which peel is best for you.

  • Fine wrinkles to deep furrows

  • Sun damage and spots

  • Acne

  • Rosacea

  • Superficial melasma

  • Reasonable expectations

For comfort purposes, Dr. Champagne reserves medium to deep chemical peels for the operating room setting in conjunction with other scheduled surgery. The chemical agent is applied to your skin and then covered with a topical ointment. Light to deep peels can also be performed in the office with laser skin rejuvenation if a peel is the only procedure you require.

Light peels are associated with minimal down time whereas medium peels require 3-5 days. Deep peels need 7-10 days of down time and are followed by weeks of erythema. Although there is significant downtime with deep peels, results can be expected to last many years. To prevent infections, although rare, patients will be given a prescription for oral medications.
