Want Perfect Skin? Try the Perfect Peel

The best way to perfect skin is adopting a regular skincare regimen that works for your individual skin type. And one of our patients' favorite ways to correct, soften and smooth facial wrinkles, stimulate collagen, and improve overall texture is our Chemical Peel procedure. Best if started in your 20s, our Chemical Peel has many advantages to enhance the youthful look of your skin and helps reverse typical signs of aging.

Over time, aging and environmental exposure can lead to skin wrinkles and folds, spots, and sun damaged areas. Chemical peels are very effective for skin tightening, improving skin tone and texture, and in removing fine wrinkles, as well as some of the coarser wrinkles and folds of the face. Although very mild skin surface peels can be performed by an aesthetician (or even at home), the treatments offered by expert double board-certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Jason Champagne, reaches deeper layers of the skin and should only be performed by an experienced physician. With his expertise, he can provide you with an individualized consultation to help decide which peel is best for you.

Chemical Peel Advantages

No matter what level you're looking to treat, there are a wide array of topical medications which provide chemical facial peels of varying depths, from trichloroacetic acid for lighter peels to a phenol mixture for deeper peels. This allows Dr. Champagne to choose a best plan of action based on realistic expectations. For comfort purposes, Dr. Champagne reserves medium to deep chemical peels for the operating room setting in conjunction with other scheduled surgery. The chemical agent is applied to your skin and then covered with a topical ointment. But the advantage to light and deep peels can also be performed in the office with laser skin rejuvenation if a peel is the only procedure you require.

Recovery

Light peels are associated with minimal down time whereas medium peels require 3-5 days. Deep peels need 7-10 days of downtime and are followed by weeks of erythema. Although there is significant downtime with deep peels, results can be expected to last many years. To prevent infections, although rare, patients will be given a prescription for oral medications.

Reinvigorate your skin this season and explore the many possibilities of our Chemical Peels. With nearly endless possibilities to help you obtain perfect skin, this procedure can help you whether you're coping with fine wrinkles to deep furrows, sun damage and spots, acne, and rosacea.
