Lower Facelift

Lower Facelift Facial Plastic Surgery Beverly Hills 1

The lower facelift addresses and improves lines and sagging skin of the lower face including the sides of the mouth and jowls as well as the neck. Dr. Champagne utilizes a natural tissue layer which he elevates under the skin to achieve a refreshed and more youthful look. With this technique, there is no tension placed on the overlying facial skin, and therefore, an operated or “windswept” appearance does not take place.

Before your surgery, you will be given a list of medications to avoid and other preoperative and postoperative instructions. The lower facelift healing and recovery period ranges between 2 to 4 weeks. Generalized facial swelling and bruising is expected, and swelling diminishes over the first two weeks. Bruising can last up to 4 weeks but can be disguised with makeup. A bulky dressing is worn for 24 hours followed by an elastic, compressive bandage for the first seven days. The compressive headband is then worn nightly for the next two weeks. Sutures are removed over the course of seven days, and small clips in the hairline are removed on postoperative day ten. Dr. Champagne personally guides you through your healing process at all postoperative visits to ensure a smooth, optimal recovery, and most patients can return to work after 10 days to two weeks.

Those patients who undergo a lower facelift may also benefit from a blepharoplasty, browlift and midface lift or fat transfer procedure. Other complementary procedures include Botox injections and laser skin resurfacing.
